DANVILLE, IL (Chambana Today) — A potentially alarming discovery at Ellsworth Park on Saturday morning was quickly resolved after authorities confirmed that a bone found by a clean-up crew was not human.

At approximately 10:00 a.m. on September 20, Danville Police officers were dispatched to Ellsworth Park following a report from a volunteer crew that had come across what appeared to be human remains. Officers responded promptly, securing the area.

Illinois State Police Crime Scene Services were called in to assist, and an archaeologist from the Illinois Department of Natural Resources was brought on site to examine the bone.

Following a detailed review, the archaeologist determined that the bone was from an animal and did not belong to a human. For more information, contact the Danville Police Department at (217) 431-2250.
