CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) — The Champaign City Council will meet at 7 p.m. March 3 to consider a series of ordinances and resolutions, including street improvement projects, a zoning map amendment and several equipment purchases.

Among the items on the agenda is a resolution approving the purchase of an XplorIR handheld gas identification system for the Fire Department from Farrwest Environmental Supply, Inc., including on-site training and accessories.

Council members will also consider an ordinance to rezone property at 810 South Staley Road from the Commercial Neighborhood district to the Commercial Office district, as well as a services agreement with the Champaign Center Partnership.

Several public works measures are scheduled for action. These include accepting a bid from A&A Concrete, LLC for the 2026 Street Patching Project and authorizing a professional services agreement with Lochmueller Group, Inc., for construction engineering services on the Mattis Avenue improvement project from Windsor Road to Curtis Road. A related resolution under the Illinois Highway Code would formally approve the Mattis Avenue improvements.

Additional items include accepting a bid from Illini Nissan, Inc., for the purchase of three vehicles and authorizing the purchase of one vehicle through the Illinois State Joint Purchasing Program from Landmark Ford, Inc.

The meeting will begin with special recognition of new city employees. Public participation is scheduled prior to council and city manager comments. More information, including meeting materials and recordings, is available at champaignil.gov/council.
