CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) — Dog lovers will have a new way to hit the pavement this spring as the Champaign Park District launches its first-ever Lucky Dog 5K on Saturday, March 14.

The morning event invites participants to run, walk or stroll alongside their four-legged companions. Organizers say the race is designed to be accessible for all fitness levels and to provide a fun, community-focused outing for both humans and dogs.

Participants may register for the full 5K course or opt for a half-mile stroll, both taking place at Heritage Park on Bradley Avenue near Parkland College.

All registered racers will receive themed swag items. Humans will receive race shirts and finisher medals, while canine participants will be treated to pop-up water bowls and bag dispensers.

The park district encourages early registration to secure a spot and race materials. More information and registration details are available at champaignparks.org.
