City hosted community gun violence response meeting at Centennial High School

CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) — Residents gathered Feb. 19 for forum focused on prevention, safety and community solutions

Champaign city officials held a Community Gun Violence Response Meeting on Thursday, Feb. 19 at Centennial High School, 913 Crescent Drive in Champaign.

The meeting took place in the school library as part of the city’s ongoing efforts to address gun violence through collaboration, transparency and community engagement.

According to the city’s Equity & Engagement Department, the forum provided an opportunity for residents, community stakeholders and local leaders to discuss recent incidents, review response strategies and explore prevention efforts aimed at improving neighborhood safety.

City representatives shared information about current initiatives and resources, and gathered feedback from attendees about concerns and potential solutions. The meeting was open to the public, and residents were encouraged to participate and contribute to the conversation on strengthening community safety and reducing gun violence in Champaign.
