Free training to guide workers interested in forming a union

CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) — Workers interested in learning more about unionizing will have the opportunity to attend a free, confidential training focused on the fundamentals of forming a union.

The program will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 23, and is designed to provide practical information for those considering collective action in their workplace. The morning session, scheduled from 9 a.m. to noon, will cover key topics including collective action, worker protections and rights, employer retaliation, and strategies to protect oneself on the job.

The afternoon session, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., will focus on the process of forming a union. Topics will include the steps to unionization, common employer tactics, and available support and next steps for workers interested in organizing.

The training is co-sponsored by the East Central Illinois AFL-CIO and is open to workers seeking to better understand their rights and options. No supplies are required to attend.
