CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) — The Champaign Park District has announced updates to Kaufman Lake Park that will include removing the existing boathouse and replacing it with green space and picnic tables. Work on the park is scheduled to begin Tuesday, May 26, and is expected to be completed by Friday, May 29.

During construction, areas surrounding the boathouse, including the fishing pier, will be closed. However, visitors can still access other parts of the park, and fishing will remain permitted in unaffected areas of the lake.

Chelsea Norton, Director of Marketing & Development for the Champaign Park District, encourages residents to enjoy the park’s other amenities during the update period. For additional information about Kaufman Lake, visit champaignparks.org/places/kaufman-lake.
