Tornado risk increases across the area with storms expected this afternoon

CHAMPAIGN COUNTY, IL (Chambana Today) — A tornado risk update issued at 9 a.m. has placed the entire area at a 5 out of 10 threat level, indicating an increased chance for severe weather.

Forecasters say a few rotating storms could develop as early as noon, with the primary window for severe activity lasting from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. Storms may continue into the evening hours, with activity expected to taper off around midnight or shortly after.

Residents are urged to stay weather aware throughout the day and be prepared to take action if warnings are issued.
