Two killed, several injured in McLean county crash

MCLEAN COUNTY, IL (Chambana Today) — Two people were killed and several others injured in a two-vehicle crash on Sunday afternoon, authorities confirmed.

The crash occurred around 3 p.m. east of Normal at the intersection of Illinois Route 9 and County Road 2600 East. It involved a sport utility vehicle and a passenger van.

The driver and sole occupant of the SUV, a 58-year-old woman from Ellsworth, was pronounced dead at the scene. An 82-year-old woman from Millbrae, California, who was a passenger in the van, also died at the scene. Other passengers in the van were taken to area hospitals; their conditions have not been released.

Illinois State Police and the McLean County Coroner’s Office are continuing their investigation. The intersection was closed temporarily but reopened later Sunday evening.

Authorities have not released further details and urged anyone with information to come forward.
