Shooting and robbery at Urbana Circle K; police seek information

URBANA, Ill. (Chambana Today) — A shooting occurred late Wednesday evening at the Circle K convenience store located at 507 W. University Avenue, leaving the store clerk injured during what police believe was a robbery.

At approximately 10:44 p.m. on December 24, Urbana police officers responded to a report of a shooting at the location. Upon arriving, officers discovered the store clerk with injuries sustained during the incident. The victim was promptly transported to a local hospital, where they are currently listed in stable condition.

According to authorities, the suspect in the robbery was described as a male wearing a black jacket, black pants, sunglasses, and a face covering. After committing the crime, the offender fled the scene in a vehicle that was later determined to have been stolen. The stolen vehicle was subsequently abandoned by the suspect and recovered by the Urbana Police Department.

Urbana police are continuing to investigate the case and have asked for the public’s help. The Urbana Police Department also reminds the public that all individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
